"Here here." Serenity readily agreed with Zeke's response. "I agree. The sooner you humans learn that you are much better in our cities, the less likely you'll be come some animals' dinner." She glanced down to Maxwell.
"All of our ape-raised humans believe that the city is much safer than out in the jungle."

She sluggishly drew her head away from Zeke's pat, barely even revealing a fang. She blinked slowly, continuing to slur, "d-don't t-t-touch me." She was managed to scrunch her brows together. She barely even grimace. "D-don't touch me," she continues to say. Come closer, come, and you'll get the wrath of my canines. She listened to Serenity once again. "Y-you have no idea how it felt to b-be free, from the r-rings," she mutters.

Zeke didn't seem to be affected by her threats. His gloved hands pushed her head away from him to check her neck wounds. To see how much skin he'd need to each wound. They ran deep. "I never really liked gladiator rings. Brutal and cruel." He said, overhearing her. "I'd have them closed down right away and humans who are too wild are usually put to sleep or used in target practice in the Army. I'd rather see you healed."

"I don't think Rowan, if that's your owner, would put you into the rings." Serenity knew the human handler wouldn't really harm humans. Not intentionally. But he probably didn't know how deep gladiator collars ran. It was horrible. "I don't think he knew that the collars were dangerous. He probably thought it was just a mild shock." She shook her head, glancing down to Maxwell. His color was returning slowly.

Maxwell listened to them speak Rowan not knowing the collar could do such damage. He was threatened with an electric shock collar and so was Melanie. As long as he didn't get one, he'd be fine right. As he lay there, he found it difficult to breathe. He couldn't breathe laying on his belly well. It was like breathing through a straw and his panic made it much worse.

Serenity was watching him carefully and decided to try petting his arm. He must have been thinking about the shock collars. "It's ok, Maxwell. No one will put a shock collar on you." She knew that gladiators wore them to train them and control them. But the vets could easily make the humans less likely to move with the liquid restraints. She was keeping an eye on the vitals to note that her kind words had no effect. "He needs a broncho-dilator." Meaning that he was probably needing some medicine for his lungs. " phoenix? I think he has asthma."

Venus's threats were basically useless in her situation and might be a bad influence. But given her state, she didn't care. She let out a light growl as her head was shoved back. What an irritant. Humans not listening. Her head failed to shake. "I'm not sure," she mutters, not really knowing what was going on by this point. "I didn't listen. I don't want to stop," she adds.

When Melanie awoke again, she was lying in a room. She wasn't exactly tied down to the table. She hoped she wouldn't get into trouble and noticed that there was an IV. She didn't know what she was doing when she pulled her own IV out of her arm. Once out of her arm, she slid off the table.
The pain was manageable at best. She eased herself to the door and opened it. Peering up and down the hall, she noticed there was no one there. Easing herself out into the hall, she began to walk. Then she heard voices and put an ear up to the door. It was familiar and with all the thoughts running through her head, Melanie, heard "I don't want to stop." She started to panic and thought the worst was going on in the room. They were Medieval? Barbaric?
She swallowed as she listened to more of the conversation.

Zeke got what he needed when he sensed a new scent and walked over to a cabinet with some machinery on it. He put the sample in and began to do some things. The smell still was there. "Hmm. We have a human eavesdropper outside the door. Doesn't smell like our resident human."

Phoenix was listening to their conversation between the vets and patients. Were they doing this to calm them down? Or perhaps bring their minds away from what's occurring to them. Phoenix didn't have much to say, his mind drew in on Maxwell. Why weren't they talking to Maxwell?
He gently drew back the devices from Maxwell as he was entirely healed up. However, he'd ache awhile, and could have reverse effects. Just because he uses a skilled laser to open and repair, doesn't mean it's always successful. He placed the two items on the tray behind him.
"Sadly, I think the gladiators is the last chance for a feral human," he shrugs, peering over to what Zeke is doing. "Do you know how to do it? I don't mind to do it if you apply the tube to the ape-raised human," he offers.
If that wasn't trouble enough, Melanie entered. Wow, just wow. Who was watching her? He dropped his eyes, releasing a deep sigh, irked. "Uh, Melaine? Can you please remove her. I guess if Zeke has this, then I can go help her instead."

"Have Venus ready for a skin heal." Fortunately, her skin was slowly being healed. "If she would stay still and not fight."
Then he walked over to help with Maxwell's breathing and he now was breathing much better. He spoke, "Maxwell? You awake? Hello?" He noticed that his eyes were open and he blinked once for being awake. "Oh good. You're healed, but you'll probably ache."

Serenity turned to Melanie. She needed to be back to her room and resting. She could tell Phoenix was looking irked. She wasn't irked, herself. Melanie was curious. Would Phoenix be irked if Melanie- was in pain? Which she looked like she was. However, she didn't have time to talk- to her to ask.

Melanie didn't need telling twice to leave the room. She left before anyone could- do something like Silas did. In fact, she was afraid all over again. Fleeing seemed better, despite aggravating her injuries. She didn't want to get tied up to a tree and punished that way. Nor did she feel like getting shocked all over her body by an invisible shock, nor did she want to be near a cage! Oh lord no!
She didn't know what to do.

Ready? Yikes. His head shook. "Zeke, she's a gladiator, giving up is not an option," he quietly reminds, fixing a few other things on Maxwell. Carefully, he scans around to ensure there wasn't anything else that was causing the internal bleeding. He found something. A fractured rib. Once again, his head shook."These ape hunters really need to control."
As much as Phoenix wanted to agree with Zeke, he broke the news. "Unfortunately, Zeke, I found another issue," he informs, grasping his laser once again. "Well, that response is good, but i'm sure he's going to ache for awhile."
He sighs, feeling quite relief these humans were saved in time. Melanie seemed she had an issue as well, that needed tended as well. Though, not as severe as these too. "Serenity, if you want, you can go settle her down, and ensure this time she don't get away? She could of caused fatal issues here."

Serenity nodded as she left the room to see where Melanie was. She didn't have far to walk. She was sitting atop of a bench. Well, that was better than running. Melanie was looking around, wildly, as if someone would hurt her. Walking over to the frightened human, she clasped her hands in hers. "You'll be fine. Don't be afraid. We won't hurt you. You won't have to worry about those hunters." She convinced. "And you're not a bad pet." She added, hoping that would ease her. "You just don't know about our procedures. It's ok." She reassured. "If you come back to your room, I'll give you a treat, but we have to examine your wounds."
"It won't hurt one bit to get examined." She gently helped her up and took her back to the room. At least she wasn't panicking that she could see.
