He sighed with utter relief then.
At least this was a job he could easily do. Lounge about, listen to politics, never have to do tricks. Then when he was an adult... He wasn’t sure what that would mean. But for now at least he could do this. “I’ll do it. I’d rather have freedom in general but this is a job I won’t feel horrified with,” he noted as he sank deeper into the ape’s chest. “About this collar though. Does it itch bad? Did you have one in mind? I really feel nervous about that.” He noted.
After a moment he noted. “Besides this is comforting,” he finally managed. “As much as I hate to admit. I’ve never had someone care for me like this. Being in your lap gives me some security.” He managed. Ugh he almost wanted to vomit.
He was interested in what he said about the prison since well... “My former father is there. Sometimes I worry,” he shuddered. “Well I suppose I have nothing to worry about now. I’m owned by a giant orangutan.” He managed calmly.

"I know of a shop owner who runs a 'pet store' and they have a variety of collars. I don't think they have a shipment of children's collars yet. Most of the collars are itch-free and are rarely felt. Sometimes tracking devices are put in the back of the neck to keep track of humans in the city."
He knew who his father was as the Tribunal had sentenced him. "The Tribunal sentenced him to life in prison. He won't be getting out. To hurt a child is against the law and will always be against the law." The thing that prompted him to think. If there were puppies, what was to prevent them from getting beaten or injured like the older pups? Had Kratos thought about that? It was another question to write to him. He had yet to write to him so he was waiting for his first response.
He could think of all the vet reports about the puppies being brought in due to injuries and accidents. Human puppies weren't going to last long once they get older. Because that's when they discover themselves and start to understand more. Fortunately for Kramer, he wasn't an abusive cruel ape.
Stern, yes. Forceful, yes.
Discipline had to be given when they acted up. Kramer was still a child. His mind was a sponge, soaking up knowledge by asking questions.
"Your father won't be getting out anytime soon and the reason why I want you here instead of with me is to avoid any more new scars you may have obtained from him." The words were out of his mouth- the soft truth. "And you are with me which makes things much easier for you."

The tracker.
Was that the thing that had been put in his neck? He felt the back where the sore spot was. “I think they put one of those in me. I can still feel where they did it,” he explained. “They called it a microchip or something..”
Safe. Ugh he was safe because he was a pet that was unsettling. It finally hit him to ask... “Why is Kratos doing this though?” He asked. “Does he just not want humans going free anymore? Was it something we did?””
He then asked. “Or are we just cute and bankable like he said?”

"That would be it. The collar is cumbersome and many activists will say something about children becoming pets. Kratos wants to revise the laws again to make all humans pets." Then a thought occurred. He wondered if his friend Zaius would actually go with this? He had not even received a single solitary word to his digital message. "It's doomed from the start." He finally spoke. "We still have younger children than the age of 13 living in the children's orphanage and are being raised by ape families."
Money, the failure of the ape-raised children based on one bad egg? His apprentice was human and did that mean he was going to become a pet. The more he thought, the more he personally felt that this new law would fail. "It will fail." He finally said. "Kratos wanting to phase out the ape-raised children permanently will have a greater downfall."

Kramer was silent as he explained things.
The boy wasn’t sure what to say in response. Wasn’t bad talking it treason? He didn’t know anymore. Shifting on the giant orangutan’s lap. “His word is law though. And if it weren’t overturned soon enough, I’d grow up and be 18,” He explained - sort of realizing how useless fighting over this probably was. “I guess there are worse things than being a pet right?”
After a long moment, he decided to add. “Plus you’ve made your point. You’re gonna treat me well. I had a foster mom who was like you,” he explained to him honestly. “She treated her pets like they were her kids. And all they had to do is whatever she said.”
After a long moment he added. “I’m guessing that’s what our relationship is going to be like, right? The kid you keep that never grows up or leaves the house.” Almost like a doll, he thought. But he tried not to shudder again.

"However, once Kratos gets a response from the general public and the activists that protest against this, he'll see that it is better to raise ape raised human children than demoting them to pets." He further explained. "All ape-raised children go to school, their guardians use resources to bring them up as their own, and the guardians are attached to their ape raised human children. The humans develop firm attachments to their guardians. If I can try to make Kratos see that, he may change his mind." Then he added, "He didn't run it by his council first and zaius and I were in the dark." He sighed. "Don't be surprised if Zaius drops by today to talk about this taking place. He has a whole different view of humans." He glanced at him in surprise. "I intend to treat you more like a son than a pet anyway." This will be his job on the line. He genuinely cared for Ape City's citizens, but to demote ape-raised humans to pets was a punch. He shook his head. "Not really." He added when he heard Kramer say not to leave the house and not grow up. "I don't believe that you will not grow up and not leave the house. I think Kratos forgets that children need their play and not be so isolated."
