Petrus has finished what chores he gave himself today.
Sure he was a lap dog, and they were supposed to be lazy. But he had never been that way, not because he felt threatened, but rather because he didn’t like not feeling useful. Especially now that he was the pet of a general that, thus far, had treated him well.
He whipped the sweat fro his brow as he elected to watch some tv. The floors were clean, or at least the ones he’d cleaned were, and he’d decided to take his time to do so. It was some cartoon he hadn’t caught the name of, but given he was not as mature as other pets he was quietly entranced.
“Hope the general won’t mind me borrowing the TV.” He mentioned.
In the meantime he wondered what it would even be like as his pet. Now that he’d been chipped, and given his collar would he get to go to his base? He’d always wondered what it’d looked like inside. Or would he make him a home body? He didn’t mind either way - but he did hope for some freedom as he sat there.

Norrix at that time of day and day of the week was casually busy. His close servants expected him to normally be gone until dusk. However, there had been scarce events when he has arrived early, even when it was least expected. However, this time he wasn't there had been a few bizarre happenings that requested his attention.
Casually Bella had entered where Petrus had been relaxing. She found him interesting and stunning to be here. As Norrix repeats to her that he was done. Pah, look at him now. Two children pets, and now a possibility of being another, but an adult. Now she was curious if he was going to get another.
She walks to the side of the sofa where Petrus was. She folds her arms. "Mmm, I can see you've done what you've been told. But how about the outside?" she curiously questions, then peers out the window. Her arms drop. "Oh? It hasn't stopped raining? Odd." She looks back down. "Looks like you're lucky for now."

Petrus gave a sly smile at Bella.
Actually he had, mostly to get on Norrix’s good side. When he’d been asked if hadn’t been raining so he had done so. “Miss Bella believe me I take my duties as a lap dog very seriously. Of course I finished before the rain,” he stated politely as he stood up. His voice full of honesty and maybe a little bubbly. “I figured if I’m at home for now I should do all the work I can before my free time. Most apes don’t reward you unless you do anyway.”
Mostly he wanted to keep his master happy. It was important to him that he kept on his good side, and the better he did he knew the better he’d be treated. “After all, as his lap dog I might be required at the base to be seen and help,” he explained honestly. “If I can’t keep up here what makes me think I can there?”
He paused a moment, crossing his legs. “I’m not like the others here. I actually enjoy being a pet, so you don’t have to monitor me,” he explained. Then added. “Even if I was too lazy to change out of my pajamas. I was just tired, and I can do that later.”

For a moment she had disbelief in thr human, even exposing it in her quiet expression. Then she took a short glance at the rain-streaking window. She sighs. He has improved greatly, even not arguing. Sheesh it was better than some of the servants.
She smiles, locking her fingers together. "Not that's it's none of my business, but why would a lap dog attend to every chore given to them?" she walks forward. "I'm not saying it's a bad thin thing, it's just it sounds more like a companion or working pup," she states her perspective.
Bella scratches the back of her head. "The base? He's never taken any of his humans there." She winced, shrugging. "But could happen. Perhaps with you? I know he's leery on even his own people."
"Nah you're good." She leans forward. "I do it at times.
Norrix busts in, fur drenching in amounts of water. Not caring at the moment he was soaking the carpet as he storms through, and around the corner. It was visible he was ticked.

Honestly? He chuckled at the apes question.
It was true that he did everything asked of him, but at the same time he had done it very early. Which opened the whole day to him to still be a typical lap dog. The kind who relaxed and enjoyed himself, maybe even kept his master company. “I’ll do tasks but I do them quickly. That way most of my waking time is focused on my job,” he explained honestly. “Which is being a good companion and looking good for the general. He doesn’t seem to like laziness so I’ve decided to just do a little extra.”
“I can understand his leeriness. Loyalty is hard to come by.” He nodded.
He had smirked when she mentioned being lazy like this herself when Norrix entered the home. He was immediately on his feet, noting he was upset, he simply gave Norrix a respectful bow. In preparation for his return, he’d had a towel nearby to offer him. “Master Norrix, welcome home,” he managed. An action he’d gotten used to with his last master. “I got a towel when it started raining. I thought you may like to dry off.”
As he handed it over he took a step back. Lest the ape take his anger out on him.

Bella nods her head, though, still believes he acted more like a working pup, then a lapdog. Those types of humans were very lazy and lounged all day. Like a spoiled show Maltese on a pillow. Though Bella agreed with Petrus, Norrix highly despised laziness. Perhaps it was for the better anyways.
Bella clutches the cushioned chair. "Well, I'm pleased, honestly that you are attending with what was given to you. Especially without complaining." She rose a hand, smirking, "because let me tell you, I have assistants that are being instructed beneath me who already grumble about things," her eyes rolled.
Her hand reached over, scratching his fluffy hair. "I just hope you're not doing tasks you weren't addressed to. Because they're reasons for that. So, have you been just doing your tasks or more?" she asks.
Bella was about to draw him back, but, Petrus was already over displaying high respect to Norrix even offering a towel. She grimaces, gripping the collar of her shirt. She was aware to not bother him.
Norrix creepily scowls over to Petrus, who was offered with generosity. He harshly grasps the towel by his drenched blood-coated hands. "Bella," he darkly snarls. "Keep Tiny away," he shady whispers. "He should know by now," he continues to storm.

Petrus nodded his head a little.
It was definitely not hard to believe that some apes were lazy, because he’d already seen that they were. But at the same time he’d also never, ever voice that for fear of his life. So instead, he decided to let the ape stroke his hair and shook his head.
“No! Of course not. I am a pet after all and not a slave,” he snorted a bit. Knowing full well that he deserved and got his time to enjoy himself. “Like is any of those other humans asked me to help them I wouldn’t. We all have to pull our own weight. And I do want to take my time to enjoy being a lazy pet sometimes.”
He was a little startled by how angry Norrix became - what on Earth had happened? A part of him wanted to go after him and try to help, but the other told him not to. “I didn’t mean to upset him,” he managed with a sort of tightness in his throat. “I can see why he’s stressed though. The whole city seems kind of... Nuts, right now?”

Unfortunately, some humans and apes within the massive structure viewed the newcomer that was a child as a slave or a lowly working pet. Perhaps they were just more jealous. A human receiving more attention, than themselves, who were either there for years to decades. Occasionally they would secretly ruin his work.
Bella relieves a gentle sigh, curling her hand from his head. "Good, I was honestly worried there, for a moment" she whispers, not minding to share. Really? they asked and declined. It was really good, yet bad. "Well, Petrus, some tasks you can aid with. If it's requiring more than one might," she explains.
She was very aware that Norrix despised any laziness. Even he had a hard time to even sit down to enjoy himself. She kindly smiles, nodding, "you may enjoy that, just as long as you're done. Well, you are, so enjoy yourself," she offers right as Norrix came in.
Norrix's icy aura would pierce into others' bodies and bring out eerily chills. He continues to leave vanishing over a corner.
Bella gently grasps Petrus's shoulder, gently hauling him back to safety. "Ah, you didn't upset him. He was already in a dark rage. By the appearance of his large hands, I'd say it did not go well for the enemy," she whispers as soon as he was gone. "I respect that you were offering. No one does that."

That was honestly a good point and he wasn’t surprised she was worried about that. His first mistress had been keen on making sure he enjoyed being a pet. And was allowed to be a kid when his time allowed. “I understand. My mistress always said i should enjoy the time I get to myself like that,” he explained. “She said even pets deserve to be kids once in a while.”
Though he would always note that she refused to free him.
Once Norrix had left, he nodded. Greatly understanding that the ape probably was under constant stress - and it didn’t help. “I get that his job is stressful like that. It’s why I always offer up what I can to him. As a lap dog I recognize that part of my job is to help with that. Whether he accepts or not,” he admitted really calmly. It was just an honest observation he’d made over the years. “A lot of you need something nearby to help with that. I think all living creatures do.”
He decided to return to his cartoons. Though he’d keep an eye out if Norrix intended to come back.

Though, Bella was interested why a child was more cooperative and enjoying the work he did. It was highly unheard of, and intently rare. Especially when he was just a small pup. Adults even had a complicated time to listen. He simply did with no question.
"I have to ask, Petrus. Why do you obey everything without questioning? You're honestly the first I've ever met that was so easily to deal with," she mentions, gliding her finger along her cheek. "Was it your mistress that owned you before?"
Bella listens as peers down at the drenched flooring below. Petrus was correct. Lapdogs are there to accommodate with their masters, even if it was to cross the line.
She sighs, waving a hand. She turns, as he walks back over to the tv. "You're welcome to try. But remember this, he's very ticked, and you're his first lapdog."

Petrus was silent for a moment.
It was a good question why he did everything that was asked anyway. But after a long moment, he decided his answer. “It was her, yes. I guess it was because she didn’t treat me like dirt like other pets,” he explained. “And it’s not like that here either. I don’t feel threatened or as if anyone will hurt me. So why should I fight?”
He needed her words as she mentioned Norrix.
He decided to finish his cartoon, and do a few things before trying to go to Norrix. First of which was giving himself a bath, which felt good as usual. And the last of which was dressing himself. He knew by now how to dress himself distinctly and with a certain pride.
As such he’d decided on a collared shirt with short sleeves, and a pair of black slacks. Nice enough to be somewhat dressy, but also casual since he was around the house. When he’d finished, about an hour had passed, and he decided to try to see Norrix now.
He followed the hallway down toward his office, calmly knocking on the door. “Master Norrix, I’ve come to see if you’re OK,” he called gently, not yet opening the door - as to not overstep. “Part of my duties has always been to be there for my master. So if you require company or someone to talk to,” he paused. “Well I’m right out here.”
He stood there patiently. Figuring if he got no response soon he’d simply walk away and find something else to do.

Bella had figured it was his past owner that taught him well. Too well. He was beyond expectations. No wonder why that snotty, haughty ape wanted more. He was aware of the great value Petrus contained. Why not take advantage?
She quietly nods, responding, "it's hard to find owners in the city who are sweet like your previous owner. I'd assume she was, anyhow." She frowns, looking up the staircase. "Unfortunately, yes. Ape's footstool, mainly. Wish some would actually treat them like pets."
While Petrus returns to his quiet, lazy time, Bella strolls off into another room. Believing he wasn't going to go after Norrix, not in his intent rage. She decided to go have her own break.
There was no sound. In fact, there was no light seeping through revealing no one present inside. Therefore no answer.
Naruto was wandering down the hallway adjacent until his corner view caught an image. He shifts his head, looking down. Well another human, though this one dressed nicely.
He smiles. "Norrix isn't in there, " he clarifies. "He's outside, probably on the swing connecting to a tree, " he continues to explain, "the door is straight down this hallway." he points.

Oh wow, Petrus felt a little dumb.
Of course he was mostly just nervous. If nothing else because Norrix was very high ranking, he had never belonged to a high ranking ape before. And honestly he didn’t know how things went. But either way, he dipped a small bow of thanks Naruto’s. “Thank you, sir,” he managed politely. “I’ll see if I can find him there.”
He was quick to make his way out the door.
It took him some time to find where Narufo meant. After all, he didn’t know this area well at all. But after some time, he found the swing - and Norrix. Inside, Petrus debated how to approach his master. Though his foremost concern was showing Norrix he cared. Maybe even how he could benefit him.
He wanted to be useful.
Petrus calmly approached the gorilla. Stopping a respectable distance but still close enough to be within reach. Usually he’d simply sit on his lap out of habit, but he wasn’t sure he would appreciate that. So instead he made himself readily available for shifting and stood there.
“I thought I’d come check on you, Master Norrix. I hope you don’t mind,” he managed with a little tightness in his throat. “Your state before made me worried. I thought maybe you’d want some company or someone to talk to.” He explained.
He wss prepared to be turned away but at least he’d try.

Well, that revelation of respecting was surprising. Naruto hadn't witnessed a human doing such a rightful act. He curled a small smile, quite impressed. Though didn't congratulate on him, that would be quite awkward anyhow.
Naruto ducks his head in return, responding, "I'm pretty sure he's out there. I've seen him there to cool off, even enjoy outside alone. Away from everything. Can't blame him, really." He sighs, continuing where he was going. "Just don't be foolish,' he advises.
Naruto grimaces as light steps came close, clearly revealing them to be human. He didn't take action as he would with wild humans that crossed his territory. Petrus's scent drew him away from the engagement.
He pauses swaying, sighing. "I'm not sure how you knew I was out here. Spying? Possibly, or one of my servants informed you of my position," he looks over at the child in annoyance. His hand rose, "speak."
His eyes drift to the green surface below. Another sigh follows, "Petrus, that state is common. Sometimes its worse than normal," he quietly shares. But not too much. "I thought Bella had told you to not bother, let alone come close when I'm clearly vexed."
he scoots over. "Fine, but keep your distance."

Spying? Never.
He debated whether or not to mention that Naruto had told him. But he honestly didn’t know the apes name so he figured it wouldn’t hurt anything. “One of them told me, yeah, a male one. I don’t know his name,” he explained honestly.
When he mentioned it was common he made an “oh” motion with his mouth. Now understanding why they were used to it. As he took a seat nearby on the ground to make sure the ape did not feel crowded he decided to answer his master politely.
“She said I should give you space. And I did. But I wouldn’t be doing my job right if I didn’t come check on you,” he explained gently - his voice full of honesty. “You’re a good ape, and I don’t like seeing you... Upset? At least not that upset. Maybe it’s just the way I was raised. But I’ve always been told we lap dogs are around to help with that.”
He paused a moment, playing with a blade of grass. “It’s a loyalty thing too. You earned my loyalty when you stood up for me at the market,” he stated with great honesty. “You and the others... No one ever had done that before. You probably saved my life too...” he paused. “So even if it takes getting used to you have my loyalty. Which means making sure you’re ok, and not just running away or causing trouble.”
He felt he had made his point, and so went quiet. He was sure Norrix would say something if he wanted to.
