Bailey managed to slip from her room and (@norrix @petrus) walked into the kitchen. She glanced around and noticed she was alone. She walked right over to the fridge and luckily, no one locked the door. She went ahead and grabbed what was within hands range. Now she could get a drink and go out to the living room. She wasn't about to drink a soda in the kitchen as they wanted it.
She closed the door and walked out to the living room, with her soda in hand. It wasn't open yet so that was a good thing. She was also doing it to see what Norrix or Bella would do if the container was closed. She wished for another human to talk to. Any human. Then she missed her Mom and Dad again. She wasn't used to the General's way of things, and it was a rare time when she would actually forget temporarily. But being alone, made her feel awfully sad.
She soon popped the soda can open and took a drink. Relishing the sugar and flavor. It was different and new.

Petrus was bored.
Honestly he didn’t have much to do that day. He’d finished his chores early (as usual) and had played around in the yard a bit - but it hadn’t lasted long before he’d decided to come back inside. As usual, he was planning to go and watch cartoons when he noticed a younger girl - obviously a pet by her collar.
He was a little confused as she seemed to have a soda in her hands. Had she asked for it? He hadn’t really seen anyone around today and was used to asking an ape when he needed something. So by instinct he immediately asked. “Are they letting us have sodas now? Maybe they just kept them from me because I get hyper though...”

Bailey couldn't figure out how to operate the remote control that was sitting next to her. She plucked it off the table and looked at it. She pressed some buttons, but nothing happened. She was clueless...and no one hadn't shown her anything yet. Then she heard a voice and jumped, not expecting anyone to walk in. Turning around, she saw another kid. Only he was a little older than she. Taking another sip of the soda, she shrugged. "I just took it because I was thirsty. I can go get you one. I know where they are."
The fridge was not locked, so she stood up and left to go get him one. She returned with a soda and gave it to him. "No ape said I couldn't have any so..I took one for myself. I like it. It's sweet." Oh..."My name's Bailey. What's your name?" She hadn't forgotten the remote.
"I think this remote thing is broken. Nothing comes on in here."

Petrus looked a little forlorn.
Was this kid clueless? You didn’t just go through apes things like this! Sure the apes might be nice, and Norrix seemed to be but that was basically asking for trouble. When she brought him the soda - he carefully held a hand up to politely shake his head. “I’d rather not risk getting in trouble for having it,” he admitted honestly. “Especially not as Norrix’s lap dog. They’re supposed to be big wigs. I need to set at least some example.”
When she asked his name he has almost responded with that ghastly name he’d been given as a child. But remembered he had a new one before very long. “Norrix decided to name me Petrus.” With a tilt of his head, he decided to ask. “Did you try pressing the power button?”

Bailey looked more confused and wondered what he meant. "I don't think we'd get into trouble for drinking a soda. I never had it before." She was beginning to worry that she would too, but for a simple drink? That sounded so- barbaric- and cruel? She was thirsty. No one was there! And it was the only thing she could reach...in the fridge. "It's not locked." She finally said. "I mean the fridge isn't and it was in my reach. Otherwise, I'd be drinking nothing but plain boring water."
She glanced at the remote control and saw a red button. "I thought red meant danger. So I didn't press it." She pressed the button and a huge screen flipped on. She never knew what the remote did until she realized it. "Wow. It turns on that big thing." She felt stupid, but hadn't seen any of these things.

Yikes. She really hadn’t grasped the situation yet had she? He didn’t exactly know how to nicely put it to her in a way that didn’t sound harsh so... “Technically none of this stuff belongs to us. They belong to Norrix and we belong to Norrix too,” he explained honestly. Taking a seat on the couch. “So we have to ask for everything. Food, drink, outside playtime... It’s like a cool vacation but we have rules since we’re technically owned.”
He blinked, red means anger? What on Earth was he dealing with? Was this girl from the wild? Didn’t they have tv in the wild? “Yeah, it’s a tv. It shows tv shows.” He explained. “Funny woulda though the wild had those.”

Bailey didn't like that term and it made her feel less of a human. Maybe she should have stayed up in her room instead of coming downstairs to get a drink and have some fun with figuring things out. Another human telling her nothing belonged to them. She could speak out, "Well, that sucks! Why ask for drinks and food when you're hungry or thirsty?"
It sounded like this human was so sheltered and by saying she was owned was giving her a bad taste in her mouth. Well, it couldn't be true. Because she wasn't what he was. "I'm not owned. That's foolish." She didn't believe him. There was no absolute way.
She glanced over at the tv. "Our village didn't have TV or sodas. It's one of those villages that relies on entertainment from performers."

What fantasy world was this girl living in?
She had a collar around her neck that said she belonged to him for pete’s Sake? Did she think this was an elaborate joke? “You’re very much in denial, Bailey. Read your tag - if it’s like mine it probably says “Property of” in big letters,” he explained. “Did you ever keep pets in your villages? You know like a rat or a ferret... Maybe kept it alive, sustained it, got companionship from it. But it had to follow your rules?”
He imagined she might have. Or at least hoped so so he could make her understand. “Either way you should take my advice. I’ve been a pet for fifteen years. I’m not just joshing you.”
When she mentioned her villages idea of entertainment he kind of grimaced a little. “No offense but you were really missing out.”

"Wasn't allowed any pets in the house. I had my Mom and Dad who kept me company. I was close to my Mom." She said, "But there were rules in the house...but nothing about not being allowed to eat or drink. And I had a bed-time and a respect your human elders."
She had already finished the soda in a few gulps. Now there was just one sitting on the table. She figured they'd not know about anything. "They won't notice a missing can. Besides, why would they let us watch TV and not eat or drink something to accompany it with?" She always ate or drank something when there was entertainment. She wouldn't ask for much of anything. Not sense it dealt with begging. "I'm not begging like the neighbors wolf-hound does. You know how stupid and dumb that would be like? Oh please please?" She gives an example.

Ok so she was dense and didn’t get it.
Rubbing his temples he decided he had to be blunt about it. “Bailey, here, you are your neighbors wolf-Hound! You’re a pet, that’s what we are to them,” he explained trying to drive home what it was before she got in trouble. “Don’t you recognize what they call us? Puppies? And the adults are dogs. Those were terms they used for pets back yearrrsss ago.”
After a moment, he added. “You don’t have to beg, but you do have to ask - nicely. Didn’t you ever learn manners anyway?” He asked.

Oh she got that and stood up to leave. "I'm going outside," If that's how they viewed them- like the wolf-hound...then she should not even be in the house whatsoever. Their wolf-hounds weren't that domesticated and often slept in heated dog houses. "And it sucks!" She added. "You're fifteen years old and have been a 'pet' for fifteen years?"
Her denial was that she wasn't treated like a pet. "I'm not treated like a pet." She didn't believe so. But if she was, she'd know it right away. "So, I can go outside and play."
She knew exactly where she could go and couldn't.

Luckily for the two, Norrix wasn't around, their location. However, he was only occupied with downstairs, which he forbade any of his servants, especially his two pets to enter. Recently he has been down there than normal.
Bella had been busy with the other two humans, trying to keep the two pups from the adult dogs upstairs. Bella and Norrix strictly stated for either to go up unless it was an emergency.
Bella was hiking down the stars, finally free to herself. But, as she came down, she noted one of them disobeying his rules, even Bella couldn't do it. Instead of approaching, she alerted Norrix.
Norrix wasn't in a pleasant mood, especially when he was occupied. He despised being bothered. In time he would enter the living room. He did not approach either. Nope, just stealthily observed from the other room's darkness. Of course, he was slightly ticked.

“Yes I have been!” He said that bit with more pride. After all, despite how his second master had treated him he did have a great amount of pride in himself - or so he thought. “My mom was a champion show dog and my dad used to be a war hound. I’m of great pedigree!” He explained. “It’s not bad or anything. Despite being treated like crap by my last master. My first one was very kind - even if she liked dressing me up like a doll.”
He looked at her kind of annoyed by her entire attitude. She really was going to get herself in trouble. “You’re acting like this is such a bad thing. But being a pet has advantages!” He explained. “I never have had to have a job or go to school. I get to basically do whatever I want as long as I have permission usually.”
He then added. “Hell, have you tried an ape’s lap yet? It’s warm and fuzzy.”

Bailey sat down again. "Does that mean you were a pet since you were a young boy?" She had been egging him on the whole time. But now, she wanted to know more. "What's a school?" Then it was apparent that she didn't know anything about school. "Oh you mean like chores around the house? I had few chores around my Mom and Dad's house. They focused on survival and stuff."
"I was brought in from the wilds and put into a cage. Did you know that there were many other young teens like me in those cages." She picked up the empty soda can and took the little lid popper off and it went into the can. She shook it a little, hearing it cling. "I never sat in an ape's lap. I don't think I would really like it."
