Norrix agreed to go hunting with the vicious gorilla that disdains all creations but apes. Well, that's what he considered. Ursus resembled to be sufficient of bitterness and limited emotion, though, he keeps to himself. Norrix had additional sporting companions that were just as aloof or emotionless. He never judges that toward them. Managing the work entirely away from his enjoyable hobbies. His preference was night shooting. Humans were 'blind' in the night, well, he expected.
Inaudible tracks were trekking through the compact jungles at first, then traveled through trees. The jungle floor would form deeper, concerning rustling that the canopy trees that shielded out the stars. His personal hunting tactic was the everlasting tree limbs that provided more silence. Further, that's how great cats hunt very sneakily.
Tranquility, Norrix studies the scene down beneath, then several feet overhead into the shadowy extensive tree branches. He was skillfully perched with his aimed 'rifle'. He would abide for his extra hunting apes that were requested. His observant ears were locked on distinct sounds.

Daemon enjoyed nights like this. Hunting was a great way to release his anger and he was looking forward to hunting a human. He never liked humans especially renegades. They were the bane of existence! Since they destroyed his village. He didn't know what happened to his parents. Nor did he find them. He sat near Norrix up in the tree, waiting for Ursus to appear.
All was quiet, tranquil, and serene. There was no reason why they couldn't night hunt. It was just as dangerous to hunt during the day as it is night. He shifted his hunting rifle to point down to the shadows.

Jennifer wasn't alone that night and she hadn't really sneaked away without a fellow renegade who was armed with a gun. Her protection wasn't a member of an ape council member named Luca. It was young man named Arnie. He had became her protector and companion since Andrew hadn't returned. Her father had appointed someone who was 18 and wouldn't be returning to the city to spy. Jennifer was talking in a low voice. "Come on Arnie. It's not far. I've been there countless times during the day. It's a clear view of the stars. I left a note to Mom and Dad, too."
Arnie followed with his gun. He could tell Jennifer was always going somewhere. Like she couldn't sit still. "You'll get us both in trouble. You aren't supposed to leave the camp!" Arnie argued with her. "Plus, don't forget. There are Overlords. You need to be more careful, Jennifer."
"I heard they don't come out at night. They're afraid of the dark." She made that last bit up. "They would rather stay home than come out here to hunt. They don't like nights." She shined a light in front of her. "Besides, you're armed with a gun. I'm not able to shoot one yet." She paused, noticing her voice had gotten a little louder. More impatient.
Arnie shook his head. "Who told you that they don't come out at night? They do. Maybe not in the jungle. But they're out in that cursed city of theirs."

Shawn heard bickering and went to investigate. He knew a teenagers. One young and one adult. "Alright." He said stepping out from hiding. "Lets go back to the camp before they miss all of us." His gun was aimed downwards to the ground. Ever since he lost his daughter to the Overlords, he hadn't figured out how to find her. He was worried about her. "Especially you, Jennifer." He added, strolling over. "You are too young to be out here without your parents. No less your guard."
Shawn wasn't with the Renegades. But he had been staying with them under their protection. His wife, too. "Arnie is also right. There are Overlords and wild animals."

Ursus had arrived minutes before the two. Gah! what drove them so long? Are they not 'inspired' or 'bright'? That's what seemed to him. Ursus's dark, negative pondering washed away. These were his companions, gaming partners. No need to be so cruel. That's for humans, alone. Quietly, nestled in the tree greatly opposite from the few hunters, was Ursus roosted, active to hunt in silence. He didn't pipe one word as the two remained near each other. Ursus's raven-black pelt was blended perfectly into the dark abyss of the night. It wasn't until Jennifer senselessly debating loudly at her guardian. Humans were such mindless beasts. How could they be so careless in a treacherous, nightly jungle venture? Few minutes passed, he withdrew the quiet thought. He took one shook of the fruitful branch in front of him. The faint rustle was for apes' keened ears. Once he was detected by the two apes, he directed his finger downward. He signaled the others that humans were beginning to travel beneath.

Daemon was silently listening to the bickering. One sounded awfully like a child and the other two were adults. Trying to get the child to obey. Well, she didn't know any better. She should have kept silent because they could hear them well. He also heard the faintest rustle with his ears.
He saw them and frowned. There was a child. Silently nodding to Ursus.

The trio passed beneath them. They hadn't noticed the two apes. Shawn flanked Jennifer, slowly drawing his gun as he was protecting her. Arnie was in front, also doing the same with his gun. But Jennifer, all too eager to talk. "But they're nothing but chickens. Why would apes go out hunting in the middle of the night? Besides, it's not even that 'late'. Had it been, I would have been in bed dreaming about flowers."
Arnie chuckled. "Flowers? You've been picking flowers ever since your arrival at the camp." And he paused, swinging his gun around. "Jennifer. Shh. I think I heard something."
Well, there was no sounds except the usual noises in the jungle. It was just something to say to her to be quiet.
Shawn also agreed. Jennifer needed to be quiet. "You need to be a little more quieter." Shawn said in a low voice. "Your voice carries through the woods. You can also attract wild animals to our location." He urged Jennifer forward.

Actually, Norrix was already alerted by Ursus's secret presence within the darkened trees. Maybe Ursus wasn't aware he had already been detected before signaling the two over once rustling of a leaf. Well, at least the exceedingly faint sound was directed to the apes.
Norrix darkly grins, expecting the trio not detect shaded apes to camouflage within the folaige above them. Unlike humans where at times they were exposed by their clothes and possibly complexion. And not just that there was three! What were the odds? Perhaps there was more...?
Norrix already directing his prepped rifle, noiselessly aimed it at the trio. Without warning a 'silent' shot popped out. A heavy, large net soaring below, attempting to cover them in the net. Of course, there is always a chance it didn't get all. No one is a perfect shot.

The trio were still walking, talking, oblivious to the threat up in the trees. It would have been too late. They were sitting ducks as they say.
Arnie and Jennifer were suddenly stuck in a net and let out a startled shriek. Jennifer tried to get out by pushing and pulling at the net. Arnie began to use his gun at the trees between the netting. Hoping to shoot some ape. Shawn raced over to try to cut them from the net. But it seemed to be made from a material that was thick and sturdy. He cursed under his breath and didn't want to leave Jennifer and Arnie to deal with the apes. He began to shoot also at the trees. He had no choice but to protect Jennifer. "Keep away from us or else." Shawn threatened.

Xyrrie was on a long, nightly hunt that moment. There was no luck! None! At all! This was insane, where we're all the nocturnal animals? Or the daytime 'blind' animals. Was there a danger in the area? As in a cat or ape? Though most jungle cats are sleeping, some do hunt during nightfall.
For a long time, after detecting the three within the trees. It wasn't that complicated to notice massive, 'round' shadows. That wasn't normal. Actually she wasn't at all behind, but above. Her exceedingly silent footsteps traveled above. Other than that, she heard the trio. What? Who would be that loud!?
She remains still, intently witnessing. She could have hollered down, to alert. But, then, it would alert her position. She was dressed in a black wolf attire to resemble the darkness that surrounded her.
Once the net was encased, she swung from a vine, then hastily removed it. With her 'strong' might, it wouldn't be that hard. She returns back into the depths of the dark, then momentarily hide. She disguised her scent as well. Since predators could catch a human's scent.

Daemon shook his head. They were 'dumb' animals. If they think they could hurt them, they were mistaken. They were in darkness so it was hard to see them. However, a pellet whizzed by his ear. He shook his head, chuckling lowly. "Stupid animals." He whispered to Norrix. "Very stupid."
Then the Trio were freed from the net. "Run. Jennifer. Take the flashlight and run for a place that is safe." Shawn ordered.
Jennifer wasted no time in bolting into the trees. She remembered the path she took. Although, it was like everything was longer because it was night. She vowed not to leave camp ever again.
"We have to keep them occupied with us." Arnie whispered, shooting into the trees at what looked like three shadowy figures after Jennifer left. "There's shadows in the trees."
"Then let's run." Shawn and Arnie didn't hesitate and took after Jennifer.

Ursus was pretty positive either the two would go forth and fire upon the mindless trio below, unaware of their foolishness causing only their 'end'. Ursus hadn't schemed to go straight after, no he'd wait. Inaudibly his intense, wicked eyes monitored the group, seeming to survey the petite group for possible capture. Two caught his eye, Shawn, who appeared to be a probable fighter and the young adult, a renegade? What intriguing options. As the three were caped by the large net. Being directly across from the two, Ursus detected a faint, small shadow motion a little. With extreme swiftness, he fires just as Xyrrie lands gracefully. The cruel bullet wasn't to kill, but more to injure. Once that human's leaks blood, her scent would draw anything, especially apes. He had no worry now. She could be a possible target. Besides, he would know if she was dangerously near. One down to easily sense their scent. Can't escape now. He just wants that Renegade. He glides through the trees, blending in miraculously through the shadows of the night. Sneakily going after Arnie.

Jennifer complained about becoming tired of running. It wasn't easy since she wasn't used to running that much. Shawn had been behind them, but now he had stopped and started to shoot off warning shots into the ground. "Get out of here. The both of you."
Arnie began to drag Jennifer with him. He held his pellet gun in one hand and dragging Jennifer with the other.
Shawn was still shooting off rounds into the ground...until they ran out. Then he was completely alone. "Leave them alone." He yelled, aiming his gun to the trees. He couldn't see in the dark very well. But perhaps whoever was pursuing would get the hint to leave them alone. "You don't want the teen and young adult."

Once the trio had left his sights, he talked. "One of those humans is a child. Be careful. They are rare as much as a female." He decided to follow the wounded human. Her scent had been strong and then her scent disappeared. Great! Where did she go? He aimed his gun, finger on the trigger. His camo worked with the night and the human wouldn't see him in the dark. They were 'blind' in the dark. "Oh come out come out wherever you are..I'll take it easy on you, since you're injured." He cackled lightly. "As easy as I can get." He said darkly.
