Xyrrie noted the wicked ape on the edge of her view as she swept across to another tree. Too late. She was already shot. That one is very keener. What about the others?
She paused for a second, bandaged then applied 'mud'. She listens to the taunting below. It wasn't the first. She didn't have to 'know' she detected him by sound.
Inaudibly she draws out her bow, then placed an arrow within. She waited for him to continue until his back was in view. With haste, she lit it on fire, then released. Once done, she hid behind the tree. -----
Norrix couldn't agree any less, these beasts were mindless. He was agreeable on that one. His head shakes with a small cackle to taunt. Such crazy, insane, wild creatures.
"Yes, and yes," his head bobbed, containing an intense contact with the trio below. He had been scheming to unleash a strong net when they were present correctly.
Wait, who was part of that group? Jennifer? That Traitor's 'pet'? He winced, pleasurably smiling. Wonderful revenge.
Then Xyrrie swept down, removing the net and returning to the shadows. "Gah! Humans!" he hollers, not caring. Their position had already been exposed.
Norrix wasn't aware the 'rescuer' had been shot. He zoomed through the woods, determined to get that pesky girl. Of course, a little taunt was in play.
"Oh Jenifer, do you recall this voice? Could it really be the one or is it another hunter to claim their 'prize?'"

Daemon didn't expect a flaming arrow to hit his back and he yelped as the burning arrow couldn't be pulled or removed. He did know that he needed to get rid of this flaming arrow. It would harm him further. He shot a shot at the human before fleeing the scene. He ran for a lake or a pond.

Meanwhile, Jennifer and Arnie heard a chilling voice. Jennifer didn't stop or complain further. She recognized the voice and she clung to Arnie as they ran. Then they saw leaves falling and one of the renegade humans jumped out of the tree. "Quickly. Through here."
There was a 'cave' and it was easy to run into the cave and hide behind some boulders and outcroppings. Arnie and Jennifer huddled together, hoping that the ape would lose their trail. Jennifer held onto Arnie and the other renegade stood guard. Well, Norrix would meet with some resistance. Their scent would be 'foiled' by the smells of the cave itself.

Ursus had known long enough that you don't allow your comrades or companion to be allowed to be hurt or hunted back with no aid. Scarcely does he agree with gaming pals to get 'ambushed'. As he swings tree to tree, he pauses a for a moment. Detecting a flare come and go. Was it they injured human? He wickedly grimaces. This female was sure of stirring issues. Not that he's upset over her causing more challenges. He admires challenges. Now with fire? No. With sharp speed, he glides over to where embers lightly elevated. Foolish human! once he arrives he viciously backhands Xyrrie, powerful enough to knock her off the branch. "Foolish mutt! Your hot cinders remained!" Then Shawn's attempted to 'voice' out the apes, scare them! Ha! How intervening it was. He swings down, landing a foot above. "You're calling out a challenge, " he could says, revealing a net. "I gladly accept," he stomps his foot harshly, trying to get Shawn to bolt. Perhaps he could bag up the Renegade. Though, it seems Norrix might want both. Ursus believed Daemen wantes the human that shot a flaring arrow.

Unbeknownst to Shawn and of what had happened,he aimed his gun at the sight of Ursus. "Leave us alone." He knew nothing about the Overlords' brutality, but even though he could not see well, he could ascertain the verbage. "Or I'll shoot you down from your high horse." He warned as he cocked his gun and aimed for the large shadow. It didn't really frighten him. "I challenge no one. I'm protecting the young adult and young teen from the likes of you three raving lunatics." He didn't see the net, but could hear the rustling of the tree leaves and noises. "Ha! You don't frighten me that easily. You should go back to where you come from."

Norrix was going to enjoy this intently. He was inspired, and admired challenging hunts! Why even go for simple? Shawn seemed to 'stand' his ground. Little foolish. No great problem. Ursus appears to be intrigued. Odd. But alright.
Jennifer had already been in Norrix's tracking path. Plus, Arnie was paired up with her. Could he really efficiently collect the two up once they were in his direct site? Expectantly.
Norrix had no issue with a Renegade human in his line of sight. He even harshly smacked them out of the tree as he pursued the two. HE easily tagged that bright 'beacon' flashlight. Oh, what do we have here? A Renegade? Was he that close to the fortress?
He eases drawing out his deadly blade. "Come at me," he provokes while monitoring the cave with a false 'door'.

Yes! Success! Though, once again, she had been harshly impaled by another bullet. This time on her shoulder, though it didn't cross her greatly. Yet, she was foolish at that moment. Having the scent of an inferno linger across, also, speckles of embers. She honestly didn't think about that part.
Before she could even tend the pit wound, she was encountered by another wicked ape. His aura very dark, even stirring chills. She couldn't even glance over into his face by the time she was ruthlessly backhanded. Now that, was painful. She yelps falling backward. A few massive branches bashing her head, slashing and lacerating her skin. Luckily she had 'armor'.
She was able to grasp one of the long stems before descending too far down

Shawn was no fool and saw the glinting silver. He didn't really come at him as commanded. He was all too aware of the 'threat' and the guards dropped from the tree, head first into the ground, thus knocking them out. Shawn knew not to 'take his eyes off the ape. No matter what. "You are foolish, Overlord. Trespassing here."
He knew Jennifer and Arnie were tucked in that cave. But there was a problem. The light from Jennifer's flashlight was on. Kids. They don't know when to turn off the light. He felt a tinge of sympathy to Jennifer. The shadows terrified her and she used the flashlight to illuminate the shadows away. She was afraid of the dark. Who wouldn't be afraid of the dark as a youngster. He aimed his gun and let off a round, straight into Norrix's chest. The pellet bounced off his armor. He needed to aim for an unarmored body part. Otherwise he would be dead right now if he came at him. "You are as dumb as a baby liger kit." He compared Norrix to one. "One that is blind."
----
Arnie then noticed the flashlight. "Turn it off."
Jennifer opened her mouth to protest. "It's a beacon! Anyone, including the one chasing us will find us easily. Turn it off. Now." He whispered to her. "I'm not going anywhere." He clutched her hand and turned off the flashlight. But Jennifer's finger hovered over the light button. "Maybe we can blind him when he comes over to us." Jennifer whispered back. His eyes would adjust to the darkness and then she could shine the light right into his eyes. It would work.

Daemon was furious! If it weren't for his 'singed' fur and remembering to stop, drop, and roll. No human ever pulled a stunt like that. He was marching towards Ursus with a look at the human. He didn't know whether or not to let Ursus deal with this one. Or go after Arnie. Well, Arnie was Ursus' to deal with. "I want this one." He said coldly. "Unless you want to 'taunt her more. Then by all means, feel free. Stupid animals. The lot of them deserve to be strung up and sprawled out like an eagle." He threatened.

Ursus observes for a moment as the reckless female...wait, they're all reckless. He wickedly, pleasingly smiles as she descends. WOuld she get educated this time? likely not. Humans are sometimes relentless. Well, that's what creates the 'fun' After he focuses back on his fresh target, Shawn. He schemed to get the other another time, unless Norrix desired to get both. He cackles harshly, enjoying the little creature intimidate him. He never found it cute, but oddly amusing. Quietly his head slants to the side. Was this human serious? He was beyond ten times low in might. He snickers again, easily grasping Shawn's neck. His other fingers viciously removed his 'gun'. "You're boring. Not even running or even trying to defend. Just useless words," he snaps his tongue annoyed now. Then, he hears and witnessed Daemon's 'condition'. He winces, "I would get that checked when we're back." This one? Then Daemon unknowingly answers. He glances up at the dangling female. He snorts. "I feel you want revenge on this one," he hands elevates, "go for it, I've had my 'fun'." He snickers at his rage, "the ones that deserve that are better in the labs or Target Practice. Why waste targets?" He returns glaring at Shawn. "I'll give you the chance to run."

Shawn didn't realize the size, strength, and how his throat was gripped. Then his gun was ripped out of his hands. "Oh what makes you think I wasn't defending?" He asked, not caring of what would happen to him. "I made sure that all of your dimwits were looking at me and no where else. The only dimwits are that singed ape and that other one who thinks it's great to scare a child and a young adult."
Then he said, not really afraid. "Leave. Them. Alone." He said it without fear. "You don't scare me." That much was true. He was providing an ample distraction from the other two. But he knew that the dimwitted apes wouldn't give up on that. "You stole my daughter. Brought her into your nightmare cities."

Daemon would get his back checked out the moment he got into Central City. It would get infected quickly while in the jungle. He smirked at the human in Ursus' grasp. He wouldn't be so lucky. Not with Ursus' good hunting skills. He was skilled.
Then he glared over to the female human and marched over. He gave her a vicious smirk before he grabbed her throat and lifted her to his menacing eyes. "You ever do that again, I'll make sure you will regret every moment you live with me." He growled deep in his throat. "I will not be 'mocked' or 'intimidated' by humans like you! Feral Dog!"

Norrix eases when the Renegade (?) refused to fight. Well, that was boring. He grasps the nape of the ape or human in his path defending that had been protecting Arnie and Jennifer within the cave. He wasn't going to fool around. How dare her 'master' 'father' whatever he was barge in the Overlord territory.
Bah should have slain him on sight. None of this would be happening, the war. That was only a belief.
Norrix didn't even 'feel' the pellet against his suit. Maybe a noise, but he was too occupied in going after Jennifer.
Swiftly he swept his burly arm across, bashing the Renegade(?) and sent them crossing to the side. After, he grapples the massive stone and tosses it over at where the 'protector' was laying.
"Jennifer come out smoothly or I'll have 'someone' go after!" he threatens. ----
Xyrrie was barely dangling on the branch lowest to the surface. Blood excreted from her fresh wounds. Nothing serious or deadly. Her body was encased in light armor of fur and leather, saving her from the deadly possible scars. She listens to the rageful ape questioning Ursus on certain things. What? She wasn't sure.
She weakly glances into his eyes, grimacing. She had nothing to say but a response of scowling. She had weapons to use, but was weak from the head bashing.
In the shadows a dark, menacing growl surfaced. Wicked, amber sights glowering viciously.

The renegade guard grunted in pain as he was tossed to the side and his gun went flew out of his arms. Lying on the ground 'dazed'. Then something landed on his head and pain exploded behind his eyes and on the back of his head. He took one final gasp before he succumbed to his severe head injury.

Arnie and Jennifer were still hiding in the cave. Arnie didn't know what to do. Protect Jennifer because now he was alone without the guard. He felt sick to his stomach. He wondered what Caesar would do in this situation. If there were only trees, they could swing from tree to tree. But then they'd crash to the ground because they weren't built to swing from tree to tree like the apes. Climbing trees, yes. Swinging no.
Jennifer didn't answer or move. She knew that voice and wanted her father more, even her mother. She was feeling sick to her stomach as well. She would have bolted, but there was no way she would make it past Norrix. She didn't listen and looked over to Arnie for help.
He was just as puzzled as she. Then he stood up, collected large enough rocks to throw at Norrix. It would end up to him, trying to protect Jennifer. So, he began to throw rocks like a 'baseball player would'. He hoped one of them would knock him and his stupid friends out. "Stupid dumb overlord." He grunted.

Norrix had no sympathy for the Renegade that 'shielded' his tracks on the way to cave that the two Renegades were in. Well, that creature would be conscious if he didn't join the foes.
Rocks? Pebbles? How cute! Humans were such interesting creatures. Especially when they're very young and are in the 'learning' and 'I'm bold' phase. It was humorous.
"Really? I'm the idiot? Who had the light on? Signalling anything after you to follow? You." He laughs as more stones clicked against his armour. "That's not much of a defensive..."
He cackles, intimidating glaring over. "My turn..." he utters coldly. He plucks out a canister and tosses it into the cave. It released a fume. It was known at tear gas.

But Arnie kept throwing whatever he could find to Norrix's huge form in the cave entrance.
Jennifer scooted from her hiding space, heading deeper into the cave. Her eyes had adjusted to the darkness and then heard a cold cruel voice from the entrance. She hid behind another rock crevice and heard something being thrown into the cave. Something was hissing and grey smoke filled the small crevice in front of her. This canister landed right in front of her.
Arnie was choking and ran out, his eyes were full of tears. But Jennifer received the full brunt of the spray. She couldn't seem to get away from the tear gas canister. Jennifer eyes burned and teared. She coughed, screamed, and was choking. She couldn't find her way or her flashlight. She began to crawl out of the crevice, heading deeper into the cave or so she thought. She banged right into an immovable force. It was hard and her head pounded from the bump.
