It wasn't that far from the village. The small little pond offered the freshest water and she needed to take some back to her parents. Allie was aware of all the dangers in the jungle and needed to keep an eye out for bears and mountain lions. And even mutated animals. Allie carried a pail in one hand, her eyes not missing anything whatsoever. It was a cool spring day. It wasn't so bad that she had to have a heavy winter jacket.
She wore a cloak and that provided all that she needed to stay warm. The little pond was just in front of her and she bent down, placing the pail down next to her. She took some water into her hands and drank some, savoring the delicious crisp taste. It tasted good and she took her pail and filled it up with spring water.
Then she stood up and walked towards her village.
Crunch. Crunch.
Allie paused a moment as she heard something crunching. Whatever it was, it sounded big. She also smelled something fishy now. She listened. It had to be an animal of a large size by the crunching noise. Allie began to walk, slowly. Listening. Then she saw it. Big and black. She dropped her pail and the water splattered her cloaks' hem. She backed up as the animal, not really seeing her, because it was more interested in the ground. She walked from the animal and hurried, as quickly as possible. When she felt she was far from the animal, she realized she wasn't near her village because she kept walking. Every time she saw something familiar or so she thought, she was convinced that she was heading in the right direction.
But it seemed like she was walking a long time. A very long time. Her village should have been nearer. It seemed she was walking farther away. The jungle was noisy and that was a good thing. If it weren't noisy, it would mean there was a predator in the area.
Allie needed to think and to do that, she needed to stop, think, and take a break. "What I need is a break." She said, sitting down on a tree stump to think.
