Caesar was known to take in human children and it was very rare to see a human child. Since the plague, the humans couldn't have children and those that did, were rare indeed. He had his own children, but this human had arrived in a sorry shape and had his best physician and herbalist take over her care.
She was too weak to flee from them so there was no telling what she thought. The physician and herbalist were ape and human. The child had traveled and made it alive to his palace. Caesar stood outside the door, talking to his physician. In hushed whispers, they talked. "Your Majesty. The girl in question has traveled very far. How she managed to survive through the forest is a mystery. We don't know where she came from and when I asked her where her parents were, she said something disturbing."
Caesar was silent as he contemplated a direction. "What was disturbing? Did she run away?"
"No, Your Majesty. She didn't run away from home. She ran away from something or someone. She told me that her entire village was ransacked, all the villagers taken away, including her parents and young brother. She hid in a thicket and watched-"
Caesar raised his paw. "Overlords."
He already knew that it would take time to liberate her parents and her brother. But the sad news was that finding her parents was going to be a hard task. "Does she know what that entails?" He asked. "Does she know what they do to humans?"
"No Your Majesty. I've told her she needs to rest until further notice and that she's to leave the IV alone and that she is to remain in bed until she regains her strength."
Caesar nodded at this. "Is there anything else to report?"
"None. You're welcome to visit her if you'd like."
Caesar nodded and peered in. He noticed her looking around and entered the room. She was nervous and sitting up in bed. As she sat up, he got closer. "My name is Caesar and you're with the Renegades. You're not with the Overlords." He said. "I'm the King of the Wild Apes. Welcome to my palace." Caesar attempted to put on a small smile, showing the girl he wasn't going to harm her. "You must rest and build up your energy." He almost echoed his doctor. "And who might you be?"

Jennifer wasn't so sure about these apes. They didn't dress like the weird clothed ones. They appeared to be more concerned and caring than the other apes. Jennifer thought, "What the heck...It's only a matter of time."
The doctor and herbalist seemed nice enough, even as well as inserting an IV into her arm. She had cried when it was inserted, because she didn't know what it was. Being talked through the whole thing was good. But soothing did little when she thought it was no bee sting. Then the doctor and herbalist left the room. She was comfortable and looking at the IV and everything looked so 'green' and 'peaceful'.
Jennifer even felt comfortable and warm. Then she heard voices outside the room. Straining her ears, she tried to listen. "Your Majesty?" That's when Jennifer thought she was with those weird ones.
Then after a few minutes, an ape entered the room and she found herself starting at him. He wasn't dressed as the weird clothed ones and seemed genuinely concerned. She did need to rest up and build her energy. He was kind and an air of authority about him. Oh, he was a king? King of the Wild Apes. Oh that must mean he's good and not mean?
"I-I'm Jennifer." She said.

Caesar placed his hands on the bedposts. "Pleasure to meet you, Jennifer." He was aware of how nervous Jennifer was and didn't want her to be frightened about them. So, he kept a friendly approach. He didn't know her well. So he was trying to be as friendly as possible.
"Your parents are with a group of apes called the Overlords. Have you ever heard about them?" Caesar asked.

"Those weird clothes ones?" Jennifer asked, clearly confused and not sure. "They looked like all of you and they wore strange clothes and spoke. They carried these loud banging things and shot them into the air." She recalled the gorillas shooting guns up into the air, as if victorious against something. "And my Mom, Dad, and little brother are dead, aren't they?"
Now she started to cry.

Caesar knew exactly what she was talking about as they did dress in different clothing. "Those are Overlords with their guns."
He slowly shook his head and walked over to her. He sat down on her bedside. He place a hand on her shoulder. "They're not dead, Miss Jennifer. They're all alive." He spoke, to console her. "What you heard was a victory shot from every gorilla they have. Gorillas are proud of themselves and make themselves above all else. They were celebrating a good hunt gone better." Caesar tried to explain what the Overlord Gorillas did.
"You have nothing to fear from the Renegades and our allies. We're not going to turn you into 'pets' or 'slaves'. We value all lives no matter what species." Caesar thought a moment more before speaking. "And your life is important and you need to get some rest. You've been through a lot." Caesar laid both his hands on her shoulders and gently pushed her back against the pillows. Not rough. Just gentle.
"Getting worked up is bound to make you even more tired and prone to sickness. We'll figure something out about your parents. In the meantime, do as my best physician and herbalists say. If you get worked up, we may have to sedate you and we don't want that, now do we?"

Jennifer glanced up from her tears. "They're not?"
She had been listening, but she didn't know that. She was frightened and never made her way out to the Overlords. They would have hurt her and then she wouldn't be in this place. She sniffled as she was pushed back against the pillows. She felt a little comfortable and dried her tears.
"I'm sorry I'm a cry baby." She said, wiping her eyes with her IV free hand. "But, can I have this thing removed, please?" She indicated to the IV. "No please? I don't want to be whatever sedated means."

Aurora had been listening on the outside of the young girl's temporary bedroom, her head rested against the wall. Her intents weren't eavesdropping, as she was already aware of the happenings inside the dark room, with a barely light above. She had been given a fresh bowl of hot soup from the herbalist, but the recipe was mainly the Queen of the palace.
When Caesar had finally eased his constant talk with the sick girl, he used her elbow to open the cracked door wider. A warm smile emerged, as she strolled over towards Caesar in the girl. Carefully, she placed the bowl onto the stand on Jennifer's bedside.
"Here, this should aid your condition. Words from the nurse, and herbalist." She informed, brushing her warm fingers against her belly. "However, go slow on it."

Jennifer wasn't sure what was in the soup. "What is it?" She asked, smelling the broth. She wasn't sure if she was hungry or not. "It smells different. What's in it?"
She was a little curious and asking questions was one of those things she was quite capable of.

Caesar stood up as Aurora came into the room with soup. "Hello Aurora." He said as he noticed that Jennifer hadn't touched any of the soup yet. "Eat your soup, Jennifer. You'll feel better with it. Right now, I'll leave you two alone. I have to conduct a meeting."
Without further ado, Caesar departed from the room.

Aurora bounced her gentle stare over to Caesar first as he stepped back. She bowed her head when she, and the king greeted each others' eyes. "Jennifer? Is it?" She muttered, firing her eyes down towards the sick girl. "It's very healthy for you. A few delicate herbs from the jungle." She informed.
As the King departed, Aurora leaned down towards Jennifer. "Try it, I assure you it's very good. I've had a variety of their broths, dishes, and, even desserts." She explained to her, trying to gently persuade the girl. "Plus, these Renegades, are very warm, welcoming in fact."

"Who made it?" She asked as she moved her hand over to the IV that had been left in her arm and the doctor hadn't removed it. Maybe she could without drawing attention to it and she would keep the new human occupied with her questions. One hand reached out and dipped a finger into the broth. She drew it to her mouth and it did taste good. But herbalists always made certain medicines yucky in her village. Some of them did work, but the taste was horrible and she'd run away especially when she was sick.
"They're good apes? Not like the silly dressed ones?"

Unfortunately, the Renegade was more alert to the happenings of the room, then Jennifer truly realized She smirked, eyeing her other hand while keeping a strong discussion with her. "Caesar's wife, and a few really good apes, who know that they're doing." She informed.
She took a few steps closer, gently grasping the spoon by two fingers, luring it towards Jennifer. "Here try it." She gently ushered, again. She gently bobbed her head, being very aware of who the Overlords were. "Yes. Those apes you're mentioning are cruel against our race."

"Oh." She said simply. She eyed the spoon and wondered why she was trying to feed her. Well, ok. She'd make her happy and take the broth off the spoon and her stomach was soothed. "They took my village and everyone in it. Even my brother who's a toddler. They're so mean, they need whoopings." Jennifer began to move her other hand and began to detach the tape to her hand.
The other woman was oblivious as to what she was going to do. "Why do I have to wear this stupid needle thing in the first place? I can eat and drink like everyone else?"

Aurora listened to the poor, young girl's detail on the ransacking of her village. She frowned, knowing this was a particular reason why she joined in on the Renegades. Jennifer isn't the first case she heard on the Overlords, and mostly won't be the last. However, it was the main reason in retaliation towards them.
"They're cruel." She corrected to the girl. "Here, take more soup, it really helps." She honestly told, placing the broth bowl even closer. She shrugged. "I'm not sure, I'm not an expert. I know the Renegades are helpful."

Jennifer was silent as she took the bowl and started to eat. The more she ate, the better she felt and sleepy? Why sleepy? Well, soup always made her sleepy after eating it when she was sick.
"I don't feel sick." She mentioned. "Just a little sleepy."
