Serenity still refused to glance over to him and even answering him was pointless, but she did anyway. She would have plenty of time once she was fired from the practice. She'd lose her license anyway and would probably have to move out of Central City.
"Well, once I'm fired that is...Then I'll have plenty of time to watch over a human anyway. I don't find a human and an ape child a problem together." She not once looked over to him.

"You won't lose your job over this." Maximus said to her. "Unless you were neglectful and had a human you didn't treat well. You did your job correctly." He turned his gaze to Bartu next.
"Prove to me what you would do to the human if she were in your care? A gentle approach or a harsh approach? Using a whip instead of educating her?"

Kratos shot his eyes over the raging ape, he growled, revealing his fangs, lightly. A harsher glare emerged at Bartu. With swiftness, he grasped the cube and pounded it on the podium surface. "Bartu! Do I need to remind you of your place, and correcting the council is not the brightest act to do, especially when you're trying to prove you are worth to handle the 'dog'." His fingers curled around the cube.
His eyes darted over to Serenity, softening his harsh scowl. "Vet Serenity, a human that is in critical condition is, not the brightest to have around a young child. Tell me you're not serious with this decision?" His palm drifted to the young vet. "I'm sure Phoenix would agree, and it would be common sense."

Serenity shook her head. "Not really." She looked towards Kratos. "I find time to care for my child and I'm sure I can find time out of my busy schedule to see to the human. I balance my work life and my home life equally. I don't spend time on missions away from home."
Serenity knew that Phoenix would agree because you don't really bring your work home. "I don't always bring my work to home."

Bartu winced at Kratos's warning then threat. Of course the council would bite back. His eyes closed, rolling under the lid to avoid being hammered more. His head scratch looking over at Maximus. He snorted. "Educating?! Now when did we accept to provide humans with knowledge." He shook his head, looking up at Kratos. "I would never teach dogs anything but their role." He looked back over. "Depends on what she does."

"You have never dealt with human pups, have you? You dealt with fully grown adults who know their roles. The human is a very young pup. Just 18 by the looks of it. She hasn't been versed in any of her roles. To assume she would automatically fall into her new role as a fully grown adult won't happen overnight." Maximus looked over to Bartu. "They still remain 'pups' until they reach 21. Once 21, they should know their roles very well and training isn't always necessary." Maximus glanced over to phoenix. "Then what do you suggest the council do for this human's fate? And Serenity? Don't be ridiculous. Taking a human home to your child- a wild one at that- is inadvisable and foolish."

Serenity turned her gaze to the council member. At least she wasn't getting reprimanded by them yet. But she may later on once she reached the office. The young vet was still training, but she still believed that they would let her go. But the human trusted her.
"I think the human trusts me." She finally spoke. "If she didn't, she would have fought against me and not be at all cooperative. This human can learn about what her role is through gentle approaches and not harshness. Like a child, we don't use harsh means to educate them. We use more gentle approaches. I don't see any reason why she can't be taught her role in a more gentler environment."

Zephram wasn't really speaking, but only listening. His first thoughts were in agreement with Serenity about using gentler approaches into teaching the human her role. "A wild human may not know what that role is. Forcing her into a role that she's unfamiliar with will produce negative results and forcing a wild human may also cause them to fight and rebel against us, or even hate us even more." Zephram stroked his chin and then raised a finger. "Consider this as well. She's still a teenager so her thinking is that of a child. Teaching and educating teenagers are better than beating them into submission."

Serenity glanced to Zephram and then at Phoenix.
Zephram was right about being a teenager as she recalled her teenager years and humans seem not so different than theirs. Serenity was silent and letting Zephram talk was a better idea than blurting out pointless items. She also hoped the human was doing better now that she was in the recovery cage.
She hoped that she continued to - recover. A frown played at the ends of her mouth. She raised a finger. "But the humans' rarity calls for strict care. What if she hemorrhages in Bartu's care or that 'qualified' old vet can't care for her because he doesn't know her records? Then Bartu stuffs her." She reiterated. "Shouldn't that be - illegal?"

Phoenix blinked, moving his eyes up at Maximus, while his finger lightly tapped the top of the table. "I Decide? Well, I can't that's clearly up to the council to decide. It's not right for me to decide or even suggest, that's your part." He stated, dropping his gentle gaze on Serenity. "Up to the council to rule out the fate of her."
He shook his head, gently having another opinion to the matter. He turned his chair to the side, resting his linked hands on his lap. "I'm sorry Serenity, but I'll have to partially disagree there. Sometimes you have to be harsh, I even am on certain humans. Especially, when they fight back. I try to avoid it with the ones that are injured, but sometimes you have to."
After, he glanced over at Zephram. "I don't think so. That human is a pup, not a child, she's over eighteen." He corrected Zephram. "If she was, then she'd be in the nursery by now."

Serenity decided to keep her big mouth shut for the remainder. It seemed to always get her into trouble- well, she was proven wrong once again. She hadn't had to be harsh with any human especially the ones that fight back. She pictured Phoenix being harsh with Allie and how she would fight back. But the human was gentle, friendly, and hasn't shown any signs of being defiant.

Maximus shifted. "Since this human's fate lies with us and only us. Based on what I believe that the human should remain in a vet's care and not a laboratory setting where she'd live out the rest of her life in a glass cage. It would lead to depression and ultimately death."

Dr. Zauis rose an orange brow, twirling his body to face Maximus. His finger rose, whispering, "Maximus? A laboratory setting? This gorilla is not in the medical field, how would she be placed in a laboratory setting?" He questioned, very puzzled, and also wondered if he was tired. "Maximus, this gorilla is doing hunting and the army. I assure you that female 'dog' would be. Are you getting someone mixed up?"

Maximus turned to look at Zaius and whispered back, "Because the vets are too busy for the pup, Bartu is in the Gorilla Army. The labs could use the human as a benefit towards science. If she's capable of carrying a child, then she can be capable of carrying another. We just have to run experiments on the human. Unless someone else has an objection to that."
Maximus may be tired. But his mind was to the benefit of the human race. "We could run battery of tests in a lab setting if she's given to the labs, under your direction. Or under Phoenix's direction. We have to have those tests run one way or another."

Zephram stood up and smacked the table. "The labs are the worst place for this human! I'd rather her be with the vets as they are more likely to be more gentle and much more able to get this human to comply with more gentler approaches. If not for them, then I guess the vets are wrong and should give Bartu his human back. Even if he's harsh, she'd be better off with him than a lab setting. But then again, this is a gorilla who has a temper and they all have tempers. But the human is still in critical condition! We aren't doctors or vets. We don't know if the delivery has shocked the humans' body or at any time, she could have hemorrhaging. So, Vet Serenity is right about 24 hours to observe her condition. Her body was in shock. She needs time to heal and to come to her senses."
