Maximus stood up. "Cobra is the head, is he not?"
Maximus knew that the recess and break would be over once they left. Discussing it would probably be at each others heads. Butting heads?

"This is the longest recess I have ever been to," Bartu complained, deciding to become relaxed in his seat His palm gripped his face as he rested the arm on the table. He listened to the two down below, as it was silent as a grave in the tribunal room. "Oh, and what would be sooo bad for me to take on that mutt, hmm?" He rose a brow, gently glaring. "You wouldn't be much better, highly occupied in your occupation and kids."

"And no electro-whips, no mad temper tantrums, and no impatience." Serenity rattled off. "Something you wouldn't understand."

Zephram heard Serenity say some things and spoke, "It's not up to you whether you get the human. It's up the council's decision. Should they award her to the vets, there's always a human available in the cages." He suggested.

Bartu rose his paw, shaking his head. "There goes judging again. Keep going..." He froze, clicking his fingertips together. "In fact ...I think I'll use that against you. With no issues." he snorted with no hesitation. "They don't tolerate condemning here...or judgement."

Serenity rolled her eyes at his threat. It wasn't exactly judgment. The 'Something you don't understand meant something else entirely'. But she didn't speak to him and kept her mouth shut once again. Why couldn't they just hurry this up so she could go back to working with the animals or pack her belongings to leave the city with her child and her husband/ boyfriend. She'd move, maybe out of the states or go to one of those villages.

Zephram shook his head at the threat and face-palmed. So far, it was proving that it'd force his hand. It's up to the council to decide. He noted the look on Serenity's face, as she was in deep thought. She was thinking of a comeback? Or she was second guessing herself? Or thinking of leaving Central City.

Maximus was the first to emerge from the backroom. He listened to the three argue, where Phoenix seemed to enjoy being in the background and not piping in. He glanced over to Bartu, then Serenity- noticing she was in deep thought. Then the ever silent Phoenix, and Rowan had left. He didn't know if he had to leave for a reason. It wasn't rare for an ape human handler to leave because he may have been needed to work at the cages. Maximus didn't like humans and wouldn't consider one. Wild or domestic. The wild ones took a while to domesticate. Then his thoughts drifted to the first female he had ever met. She was a little spitfire. But he noticed that she was much more calmer out of the cage. It wasn't uncommon for a human to be cage aggressive, especially if she was abused. "We have another matter to consider." He finally spoke. "Do you allow your hunters to torture wild caught females to make them cage aggressive that no ape can touch them?" Referring to the most recent young woman that Cobra had. "Recently, Cobra bought a human without any signed papers, no proof of the human was bought, just a cash transaction. So, now an unregistered wild human belongs to Cobra. And based on the fact that Bartu's hunters would actually stoop to a level beneath them shows how they really view wild humans, whether male or female as worthy punching bags or entertainment." Maximus paused to think. "Then if Bartu's hunters can torture this wild human, what's the chances of them arriving to a conclusion that all wild humans deserve to be tortured, changing them into cage aggressive more than domesticated. Not teachable. Those that do domesticate these wild humans have to - deal with their 'varying' behaviors and the new conditioning that their owners will also dole out the same exact torture tactics the gorilla hunters used as a means to show superiority over the humans they capture. What is to stop those hunters, if they are friends of Bartu, will not torture the female? If they did it once, they'll do it again." He glanced to zaius , and Kratos as he spoke.

Serenity heard Maximus enter and take his seat. Then he began to speak. Serenity frowned deeply as she recalled that very human. It was the camp she had just left! She was familiar with the hunters he's talking about. They always pick out one human out of the bunch left. They had chosen a female. She kept her silence, even now. The hunters were young, foolish, and full of themselves.
Serenity avoided Bartu, and Zephram.
Zephram was possibly about to be in that human's case...as well. It was a non-stop job for him to ensure all the humans are treated fairly and respectfully.

Bartu placed his hands on the table. "Maximus! I think you're crossing the line. My hunters and friends have no bloody part of this. Do not bring them into this. You are getting off track by far! Pulling in other residents in this city, when it was about that dog, me and those two." He jerked his finger behind his shoulder at the two. "You are judging just like that brainless chimp! You are getting out of line!" He called out, then looked over to Kratos. "President! Your council member here is going over the barrier!"

Maximus face-palmed as Bartu confirmed that his friends and hunters had nothing to do with Noella. "Then it was another camp." He said, shaking his head. "In a deeper part of the jungle then."
He placed a hand on his table. Well, at least he wasn't really implying that he would hurt a human with torture.

"I don't think the council member is pointing the blame on you, your friends, or your hunters." Zephram thought he'd clarify what Maximus was trying to figure out. "He may have worded that conclusion wrong. I believe that he meant something else entirely. I think he meant some other hunters that work in another camp that probably tortured a human."

Kratos rubbed his head as Bartu hollered at the council member, which was very foolish, and wrong. He allowed the three to nearly go at each other's throats, figuring more information could unknowingly be spurted out. He didn't expect Maximus to be so mellow either.
He banged the cube on the podium. "That's enough you three. This isn't an argumentive stage...so knock it down to professionalism," he snorted. "Maximus Bartu is correct on you bringing in another ape, and condemning other hunters. You specifically said Bartu's hunters. Rowan was one of them, was he as harsh?" he questioned, noting the vacant ape.
"Ugh," he muttered in his palms. "None of this is really working out. However, I do agree on Maximus's suggestion. Having the injured dog at the labs while being supervised by vets. I see no error in it, as it's more durable than having her in either of your domains."

Maximus didn't speak any further and he would be silently fuming to himself. And Allie would be transferred over to the labs. He kept his thoughts to himself. He didn't really entirely believe Bartu, or his friends were responsible for that camp. He just thought that it may be the same camp or not. Who knew?
He continued to only listen. That was the only option open to him. Listening. Only listening.

"Why a laboratory setting?" She asked of Kratos. "What's the chances of them doing their own experiments on the human? If they start doing all their experiments, won't that harm the human instead and create unnecessary stress to her body?"
Now she was curious and with Phoenix's silent presence, she was starting to also question the council member's suggestions. She couldn't help but think about the human that was still in the vet's office, recovering. "Losing the unborn child is stressful in itself."
