Rowan said, "Since she was about a few months old. She's not even of age to choose yet. But the law sucks about when ape-raised humans reach the age of 18, they're only given two choices. My sister knows about the law and will think that when the time comes, she'll be forced into the decision." Rowan didn't like the fact that ape-raised humans shouldn't be given that choice because it would be thrusting them into a world they don't know and some of them become withdrawn. He'd seen it.
"I've seen young adults withdraw from their ape-raised guardians as soon as they're brought back into the city and made into pets because being an apprentice either made them think they'd never see their guardians every again. And when they try to use their training as ape-raised citizens- they're kind of put into their places as pets to serve apes."

Venus shook her head, occasionally grunting. "Your ape society is already screwed up. I've witnessed what variety of humans go through. So what do you expect? Sure, grant the freedom of a human that's been under the roof an ape. But if they return, they're viewed as a so-called, 'pet'. Pathetic really. They've spent all their lives under the different life, and now they're forced to be a pet? Bah!" She whipped out her hand. "Two choices huh? Stay and live as one of the apes or return to the wilds for a free game. Yeah, real nuts." For a second she peers over at the horse, then at Rowan's hands to see how close he was. "So, what's your sister's name?" She tempted to draw attention again.

"Olivia." Rowan was keen. "And I met a 17 year old teen who was ape-raised and when he discovered what happened to humans his age, he changed so dramatically- that he began to return all of his achievements from his school back to them. Even as well as removing his name from them. He gave all his clothes to charity, and stopped going to school. He has a disability and reverted."

Silas simply allowed the beast to lunge at him. Unfortunately, it was the last sight that liger was going to see. He viciously grappled the nape of the big cat as it soared with deadly, extended claws. With one intense compress by his arm, he roughly snapped the deadly beast's neck.
His cruel scowl darted up at the two humans that cowered in fear. He jerked his arm skywards, releasing the dead cat, and directing his finger. "I advise you two lovebirds to willingly come down, or your outcome will not be pretty. You will lose, and come down either in pain or willingly," he offered, grinning in annoyed anger.
Slowly, he stepped a few paces back, waiting on their next move. He had already prepped his net gun, which was used to encase and force the victim to the ground. In their case, they would plummet from the tree into the ground. Even if they did obey, he wouldn't hesitate to drag them back over to Rowan.

Maxwell and Melanie observed him kill a liger with his bare hands. His strength was worrisome to the two humans and he could easily snap their necks if he truly wanted to. "Yeah..." Maxwell intoned. "So you can snap our necks, too?"
Melanie held onto a limb. Her eyes were wide with fear.

Galen watched him snap the liger's neck. The problem with brute strength? It tends to frighten humans as well because it confirmed that they could do irreparable damage to their necks and spines. If they move the wrong way, they would wind up with an even greater problem that would either send them into paralyzed bodies and then they'd have to put them to sleep.
So far, both humans wouldn't come out of the tree. One was paralyzed with fear. The other wouldn't leave her side.
"Well, one is paralyzed with fear and the other won't leave her side." He shook his head and began to move towards the duo. Galen thought he'd try to remedy her fear and get her moving. Would it work? He didn't know. He began to pet her head, trying to help her . "It's gone. It won't hurt you. See. Silas took care of that liger." He had a feeling that she wasn't afraid of the liger. She was afraid of Silas.

That only ticked him off more as his own partner was gaining on their side. Instead firing at them, he allowed Galen literally baby the two with compassion. He couldn't believe it. Galen was ruthless, but now a bear? Pah!
His head shook, placing the gun back in. "Well, once you're being done with babying, wild animals! Who were beyond ruthless, idiotic to you. I'm heading back. You retrieve the two. Because, apparently, you rather be bloody sweet, despite what they did."
He turned, slowly waking away. "Enjoy your fantasy acts to the two demons." His have wavered, as he continued further. He was too annoyed by humans, and now apes.

Galen didn't pursue or attempt to stop him. Galen knew there were more ligers around and he knew that apes should never be alone, and humans being alone in the jungle were fair game to them. The liger could have been stalking the two humans and seeing a bigger ape was tasty.
He watched him walk slowly. He began to consider that he shouldn't have teamed up with Silas in the first place. Just because he showed a little compassion towards frightened humans didn't make him any less than an ape. Humans do whatever they need to stay free anyway. And they were more aware of what other dangerous animals.
Galen glanced to the two humans.

Maxwell watched Silas leave and only noticed that Melanie was being petted. But she was in wide eyed fear. He wondered if she ever saw a liger. Or had seen an ape snap a predator's neck. Silas was actually giving up? Well, the gorilla would be forced to fend for himself and not them. He wasn't expecting any protection anyway. He could picture another liger leaping forward to pick them off one by one.
"What a coward." He thought.

Melanie moved out of his petting. She really didn't need any petting. In fact, she had never seen a liger. They were- so sneaky and wanted nothing more to get back to safety. Even if it meant getting harmed by the apes themselves. She looked at Galen, seeing that he was possibly her only way down.
The gorilla was alone now it seemed. How could the orange tang leave his partner behind? Melanie knew that no one left their partners behind or else the dangers in the jungle would swallow them up? Was that really a truth or a myth? Melanie wasn't sure. Hardly any human in their village ever left.
She knew Galen was fuming up inside...because gorillas had tempers.

Galen secured one human at a time. Maxwell first because he still didn't trust him. Then Melanie came next. Silas may have said that they were idiotic to him. All humans wanted their freedom and they would do whatever they wanted to continue to be free.
He noticed that Melanie walked closely on his heels which considering that was odd. The human was afraid and rarely spoke a word. He didn't know what she was thinking.
It didn't take him that long to return to Rowan and Venus, and the other hunters in the group.
"There was a single liger out there. I- think that's why my human is in shock and is afraid. I don't think she ever saw one before."

Rowan noticed. "She's not in shock, Galen. Shock comes when she's been hit. This is absolute fear of something she had never seen before. That's why she was on your heels."
"Where's Silas?"

Venus listened until he replied to the name of his sister. Then she wasn't as interested. She, however lightly listened. She smiled when he was done. "Probably better that way. Why hide the truth from his kind?" She questioned, slowly taking a few steps back. "What a shame." Once he focuses on Galen, she weakly rose, scurrying through the jungle. However, she didn't get far, and easily stumbles over a large root.

Rowan chuckled lightly. This human was so entertaining and attempting to escape even if she were weak. "Oh give it up, human. You wouldn't make it far with the ligers. If one was spotted, there are others out there and you cannot really defend yourself against piercing sharp teeth."
He stood up, walked two large steps over to her and grasped her collar. He drew her back.

Phoenix was on his way to the encampment to take Serenity's place, as each vet did switch off. After this visit, it would be at least a month until it was his turn again.
He eased when he heard shouting. Who would be foolish enough to holler? It's already deadly with large cats, and ravenous animals. Before trotting over to the unexpected hollers. He caught small sounds.
Carefully, with keened awareness, Phoenix walks over. He noted Rowan, Galen, and a familiar face, Venus. As his eyes traveled, he spotted Melanie and Maxwell.
He dismounts, walking over to the small group. He got a clearer view as he got closer. Swiftly, his eyes bulged open. "What happened to these humans?" He questions, gently grasping Melanie's chin, gently shifting it side to side. "They're in a horrid condition. This one needs medical attention on her face, and likely other spots." He sidesteps over to Maxwell. "He has a small limp with curving his back, did you do something?"
He walks over to Rowan as he hauls her back over. Phoenix didn't need to examine, he could already view the disturbing damage with her neck. He glares at each ape. "Why the roughness with each? You fried her neck, battered that girl, and something with the male.'
